A Note from DT

Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; 14  For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15  She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. 16  Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor.17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

The Bible places an incredible amount of emphasis on the immeasurable value of Wisdom.  Wisdom is an aspect of the Holy Spirit which God has made available to all of His household and the wonderful thing is that we are told how to get it…

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

This verse is one of the most important promises in the Bible.  It guarantees that if we ask for wisdom God will give it to us in abundance. I love that it even adds the phrase “without reproach”.  In other words, He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over the fact that you need it. So many times people wrongly assume that God is a harsh and rough teacher who desires for His children to learn things ‘the hard way’.  Many people have such a skewed view of God that they feel asking Him for something good may open them up to receiving something bad. Jesus shined light on this perverse way of thinking when He said, “If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?” (Luke 11:11-12)

The truth is that God is a good Dad and He desires for us to ask Him for wisdom and promises to give it to us liberally without the scolding reproach. Also, if we ask for His wisdom to guide us we can trust that He is good and will lead us on the right path.  As Christians we are called to navigate this life in such a way that it unlocks the abundant reality of heaven into the earth.  It may sometimes seem unconventional, but the Wisdom of God is available to all who will ask for it and its fruit is beyond anything which we could produce otherwise.

Father, would you release to us your Wisdom and the strategy of Heaven for our lives…that your Kingdom would be manifest in and through us on the earth as it is in Heaven.  Amen.
