A Note from DT
Hey HoF Fam,
I was thinking back to this week’s message and just pondering the incredible opportunity that Rebekah stepped into because of her willingness to serve a stranger. Surely she was longing for the day when God would bring her a husband to start a family of her own and she had no clue that the man she would serve at the well was the servant of Abraham but her kindness and humility ended up opening such an incredible door for her to step into the covenant relationship that she had longed for. We have the privilege of reading past this story in Genesis 24 all the way through the gospels and so we see that this relationship would provide the very lineage of the coming Messiah who would come to rescue the whole world.
In Matthew 13:44 Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
This verse reminds me of how Rebekah was faithful to serve a complete stranger and it ended up being an investment that would become valuable beyond her ability to comprehend. What if there are treasures hidden in plain sight all around us? What if all it takes is to see through the eyes of a servant in order to recognized these incredible opportunities? I do believe that there is eternal treasure all around us…hidden in plain sight for those who have eyes to see. The treasure is people. There are opportunities for us to sow life into people we come in contact with every day and often it is the ability to recognize these opportunities and capitalize on them that will release the strategic doors of purpose and divine connections in our own lives. It is my desire that the people of the HoF would be a people who are so sensitive in the Spirit that they would bear fruit in every area of life that their feet touch. This is the legacy of those who live by faith. The kingdom is at hand, it is right now, it is all around you, the Lord is with you…He is in you.
